You need not pay for an organised tour and can easily travel by your own in Armenia. There are a lot of video in internet about solo travels in Armenia. Even a girl travelling solo on bycicle through the whole country. As to crossing border and travelling Armenia - Georgia, it's very easy and can be done by air, train, bus, minibus, taxi and even hitchhiking on foot.

Levon Arakelyan, who was builder by profession, spent 23 years crafting the incredible 3,000-square-foot subterranean space - a seven-story cave and he was even working on the project on the day he died in 2008, aged 67

Levon would often spend 18 hours a day underground only emerging for a few hours to sleep before starting again.

It is impossible to photograph well, but there's a kind of portal above ground at the very top that runs down through all the levels. One can stand in the back room of the house and look all the way down to the bottom level some 65 feet below you

His wife Tosya now opens the quirky basement to visitors.

The Daily Beast's author William O’Connor travelled through Armenia at the end of May (from Yerevan to Tatev Monastery) and asked himself if he was driving through Armenia — or Teletubbyland?

    Some quotes and pictures bellow:

I felt as if one of those Microsoft Office screensavers had come to life.

Roads looped through fields full of wildflowers, which in turn gave way to hills colored an almost-too-vibrant-to-be-natural green, set against perfect snowcapped mountains and empty sky.

At first, you come across a field of flowers, and you pull the car over because you simply must have a photo of that. Same for the field of a different kind of wildflowers a dozen miles down the road. And the next. Eventually, it sinks in that this is what the whole drive will be like.

All I could think about was how lucky I was that in the small span of time that is 48 hours, I’d made one of the most memorable and remarkable pilgrimages of my life.

Traveling in Armenia Arab-Israeli Facebook star-blogger Nuseir Yassin made a video about drinking fountains in Yerevan. There are thousands of them, he said and called Armenia - the Land of free water.

Once again Armenia is a very safe country. Look for example how Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel safely walks in streets of Yerevan without any special security measures.
