105-Year-Old Italian National Applies for Armenian Citizenship

Nourhan Josephovich, a 105-year-old Italian national, wants to acquire Armenian citizenship. According to him he has Armenian origin which gives him the right to obtain Armenian citizenship.

Nourhan arrived in Armenia four months ago and since then he has been living in Armenia. Now he is going to get Armenian citizenship and to settle here.

“This is my first visit to Armenia. Unfortunately, I was unable to visit until I retired, but it’s never too late. There was nothing I wanted more than to visit Armenia, and I’m thrilled to finally be here,” Nourhan told.

Nourhan Josephovich was awarded by Italian government with the "Order of Merit for the Italian Republic".

I guess he came from Western Ukraine, where are many Polonized Armenians lived (his surname suggest this). As to his name (Nourhan) it probably came from Kipchak language, adopted by Crimean Armenians.

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan handed the passport of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia to 105-year-old Nourhan Josephovich.

“Dali and Picasso” exhibition opens in Yerevan

An exhibition titled Dali and Picasso – a specific dialogue of the two artists who have never had a joint exhibition – opened at the National Gallery of Armenia yesterday.

Salvador Dali appeared in the whirl of Parisian avant-garde thanks to Picasso. They first met in 1926 in Picasso’s art studio. The latter helped Dali to travel to the US, and this played a decisive role for his creative achievements.

Despite the fact that Picasso was an ideal for Dali, the latter’s vainglory was an obstacle for them to become close. Dali’s eccentric behavior and arrogance led to his mania of constantly surpassing Picasso.

Works of the two artists juxtaposed in the exhibition give the Armenian art-lovers an exclusive opportunity to move to their imaginary world. The exhibition displays 260 artworks by Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso (sculptures, graphic works and ceramics) from the private collection of the president of “Art of the Nations” Foundation, patron of art and collector Alexander Shadrin.

Daughter of Emir of Kuwait visited Armenia and told about her Armenian grandmother

Sheikha Hessa Saad al-Abdullah Al-Sabah (daughter of the 14th Emir of Kuwait) visited Armenia and during the meeting with Anna Hakobyan (wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia) she shared her impressions of Armenia and stressed that she visits Armenia with special warmth every time. She told about her Armenian grandmother, Elizabeth, who lived in Zeytun during the Armenian Genocide, and could escape the massacres finding herself in Deir ez-Zor desert where she met her future husband and the grandfather of Sheikha Hessa Saad al-Abdullah Al-Sabah. The daughter of the 14th Emir of Kuwait, Sheikha Hessa Saad al-Abdullah Al-Sabah told that her Armenian grandmother played a major role in her life and constantly pushed her to get education and struggle for achieving her goals.

Special congratulations from 911 service staff to women and girls in Yerevan

Servicemen of the "911 service" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia on the occasion of the Women's Day on March 8 held a musical procession from Freedom Square in Yerevan with the participation of the department’s orchestra and a dance group, thus congratulating women and girls on International Women's Day.
