They look Med + Corded mostly with many showing Dinaric influence. They don't strike me as Pontids. Maybe anything Med looking in NE is Europe is labelled Pontid. But I think in the Balkans there is a specific look.

That’s because Pontid does not exist according to Coon. Pontids are just Atlanto-Meds labeled differently due to their region. With that being said, it’s more likely those Pontid examples are mixed with other local types that wouldn’t be found in the Balkans as much.

Any description of Mediterraneans among Balkan people in his book are just labeled Atlanto-Med.

Hey, what about these statues? Is it Pontid or Dinarid?

The first one is Alpine-Med. The middle one is Dinaro-Med. And the last one is just a standard Med.

These three together is the bulk of what Greek look like.

Robust version of Med of the Eastern Med variety (duh), peaks around the Black Sea, probably as a result of intermixing between Med types with local Irano-Caucasians, first cousin to Iranid (most likely due to the combination of aforementioned mix up).

Strictly mesocephalic (robust) or close to dolichocephalic (less robust version), thus not-inclusive of brachycephalics and ultra-brachycephalics of the Balkan variety.

Associated with the southern Thracians (Poulianos) and the so called Kurgan race (Lebzelter).

PS. Warning: Pontid as a phenotype is known to induce fits of extreme jealousy amongst certain Greek brachycephals who do not fit the bill.
