Default Christmas church, the black colomn

I watch the christmass celebration in Rome.
I found some decoration in the roma basilic a bit horrible. I talk about the black colomns with flowers decorations, who don't fit with the rest of the church. I don't remember seeing thoses black colomns before. They seems to be a recent add but I'am not sure.
    Is it a new stuff?

Just curious to know about it if an italian can answear.

If you're speaking of these black columns, these columns are 400 years old. It's the St. Peter's Baldachin, not really a new stuff.

This is likely the decoration you're talking about, usually are flowers.

How can someone say that the St. Peter's Baldachin (a masterpiece of Bernini) is horrible?
Plus those columns are not really black but bronze.

    Well it was last year.
From memory, on TV the black column looks very dark compare to the rest of the basilic and I can't saw all the details. It might be an effect of light due to the projector.
