Muhammed PBUH didn't split anything , he doesn't have the power (he is just a man) .. that happened during the early days of Islam in Qurish tribe when they asked for a mircle to believe in him , so he prayed to god to show them a mircle and the split of the moon happened.

you can watch the video ... and of course the west will never admit the split of the moon because if that happened , that basically means Islam is 100% correct and Muhammed 100% right.
there is also old indian Manuscript about what happened to the moon located in London Library.

This piece coming to show that there are spider's web of cracks and that in a subsequent period, the lava flooded the low-lying areas in the outer part of the ground and covered cracks
http://history.nasa.gov/SP-362/contents.htm
A spider web of cracks on the crater floor suggested to R. B. Baldwin (1968) that the floor was bowed up in the middle. Later, dark mare lavas flooded low areas in the outer part of the floor and covered the cracks. A peculiar "bull's eye" double crater on the crater floor has several counterparts elsewhere on the Moon. The origin of these double craters is a continuing puzzle.-K.A.H.
