Alright. There is this area above town, I prefer not to go. It's known as Galgenberg (lit. Gallows mount) as this is where, up until the 18th century, those executed used to be hanged as it was right near the city limits and alongside the main road leading south (and, funny enough, it's also the area where some prehistoric grave mounts were dug up and where the city hospital used to be). Everytime I walked through that area at nighttime, it is as if you were being followed by something. At one time, a friend of mine and I were talking right next to the school entrance which is in the district and she was constantly looking over my shoulder. Telling me that she could see someone watching us and the weird part is that at one part, she grabbed my shoulder and told us that we had to leave. Later on, she told me that there had been this "shadow" watching us the whole time.

The forests just over the town are spooky as hell. I am not sure what's going on there and I don't want to know but particularly the area next to the old Nazi concentration camp has a weird vibe to it (even during the day).

The only story that comes to my mind right now is this one. My family had an old mansion that nobody was living in up until we sold it last year. Every time I would visit there I would never walk around there alone because I would always get weird feelings. The last time I was there was when my mom and her aunt were organizing some things around the downstairs and basement. For some reason I felt no problem going around the house alone this time, this is very unusual for me. I went up through the maid's quarters, through different staircases, bedrooms, offices, etc. But there was always one yellow bedroom in there that got my attention over the years, every time I visited that house. When I walked into that bedroom this time I felt so scared all of the sudden and ran back down to the basement to my mom. A little while later I decided to go back up to that room, but this time I wanted to get it on video (I will try to link the video with the post, so you can think for yourselves). I walked up the main staircase to the room and looked into the mirrors, as usual. When I looked into the mirror I felt the biggest chill and I ran back down to my mom again and told her I wanted to sit in the car. I forgot about the video until I got home, and when I watched it I saw the closet door opening behind me through the mirror during the time I got the chills and stopped recording. At the very end of the video you can see (and hear) the closet door opening through the mirror. This was January in New York, so no windows were open or anything that could blow the door. I don't know how I didn't see realize it opening when I was actually in the room, but that's when I felt something really wrong in me. That was the last time I went to that house.

It's a fucked up area with a fucked up past. I mean: how did they plan it out ? There is a former Nazi concentration camp, a former hospital, mediaeval and early modern execution sites, an insane asylum, a strict protestant school (with its own rumours of historical abuses), a former monastery turned school, and a motorway all cheek by jaw with a forest. It's almost as if people were asking for trouble. And then there is also the former Belgian refugee camp dating back to WWI - now a monument.

My best friend told me about his terrible experience. Until he was four years old, he lived in a house where strange things happened. He said that the atmosphere in the house was continuously very heavy and that at night he was very afraid because he heard footsteps and voices that were not from his parents. But for him the most terrifying were the two continuous nightmares he suffered. They were always the same. In one of them appeared, on a black background with fog, a high number of numbers (for example 12,564, it was never the same figure), at that moment a voice said "when the counter reaches X (a certain number, never the same again) you will die. " Then the "counter" which was the number that appeared in the dreams was rapidly firing towards the figure that the voice had said, like a digital counter, and just when a couple of numbers were missing to reach the figure mentioned by the voice my friend woke up suddenly, terrified. In the other nightmare he simply saw a rubber (the typical rubber used for shoe boxes) bouncing and twisting alone. Suddenly the rubber, jumping, was heading towards him and was entering his eyes, and then suddenly woke up.
My friend was so scared of these nightmares, and with the steps and voices he heard at night, that he did not dare to get out of bed, covered himself up to his head and sometimes even urinated or defecated on top because he did not dare to go to the toilet.

Fortunately when he was four years old he moved with his family to another house and did not experience any of these events again.
