Active volcanoes in Italy, those in orange are actually active volcanoes, those in grey erupted in these last 10.000 years but they are actually in a quiet phase
The most dangerous are surely Campi Flegrei, Colli Albani, and Vesuvio, that are explosive volcanoes, with dense gas rich lava, while many others are similar to Etna, with a constant effusive activity with a very liquid lava and no explosions.
The volcanologists keep also a special eye on Marsili a submerged volcano 3000mt high, an explosive eruption from that thing could cause huge tsunamis along all western mediterranean coasts.
Another very dangerous and explosive volcano in also that of Thera (actual Thira, Santorini), in Greece, the last eruption about 3500 years ago gave the killing blow to Minoic civilization, modified the climate of the eastern mediterranean area, caused the end of the Hittite empire, overwhelmed by other peoples fleeing from the bad climate conditions, even ancient Egypt was almost destroyed by the Sea Peoples invasions, which were perhaps former Minoan subjects turned to pirates to survive famine.

it's actually alltogheter a Super-Volcano: Vesuvius+Flegrei Fields+Ischia etc..
