They may do if socialist Jeremy Corbyn wins the next UK GE because he's strongly anti-war and pro United Ireland.

But do the Irish really want to remain governed by foreign eurocrats and foreign EU Presidents (who they didn't get to elect) in the Brussels parliament? That's not true independence to remain a controlled state of the United States of Eurabia.
The Northern Irish also voted to remain in the EU during the Brexit vote (the leave/independence vote mainly came from the English and Welsh UK voters on Brexit.)
The Irish voted no to the Lisbon Treaty, but the Republic of Ireland was forced by the EU to have a revote - until the Irish citizens suddenly changed their initial democratic no vote into a yes vote, to suit the EU dictators.
They voted no - so why were they forced to have a revote until they voted yes? What's the point in being allowed to have a vote, if their vote result wasn't respected and was rejected by the EU parliament. That's anti-democratic and a dictatorship.
Nigel Farage (of UKIP and the EFD) and his fellow UKIP MEP's were ordered by the Eurocratic dictators to 'take down those placards' when they arrived in the EU parliament with placards and were wearing green, orange, and white coloured sweatshirts in the colour of the Irish national flag stating: 'Respect The Irish Vote.' 0:00, 1:49, 2:18
The strict Protestant DUP currently governs NI and the UK in a joined government alliance deal with the Tories (Conservatives) in the current UK coalition government, as the Tories lost a lot of seats in the last UK GE, which resulted in a hung parliament.
Corbyn's Labour rose to popularity and won lots of seats in the 2017 UK General Election (especially amongst the youth vote,) and May could only hold-on to power by forming a coalition government with NI's DUP and her weakened Conservative government.
Abortion is currently illegal in Northern Ireland under the rule of their strict right-wing Protestant DUP government (even in the cases of rape or malformed fetuses.) The DUP are also against the teaching of evolution, are anti womens rights, anti gay marriage, are anti Islam, anti immigration, are against working on Sundays, and want all shops closed on Sundays, etc.
When the DUP made their late Saturday night victory speech to us after the last UK General Election, they made sure not to let their celebration speech go one minute past midnight, as they consider it as a deadly sin to work on Sundays.
The bible states that anyone who works on the Sabbath day must be put to death. (But tens of millions of Americans work on Sundays without being executed - and have stores open on Sundays, along with hospitals, fire rescue services, etc. It helps their economy.)
Arlene Foster (Northern Ireland's First Minister) is the leader of the DUP. Her fanatically religious and non-secular right-wing Protestant party are currently governing the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland together with Theresa May's Conservative government in our current UK coalition government.
The DUP suddenly became the most Google-searched entry as many British people had never heard of the DUP. People were naturally curious to want to know who would be governing us after we were told we'd have a coalition government in power. Then a bit of panic and some small protests started happening in London when people realised what the DUP represents and that they're now govening us all across the UK in a coalition government deal.
May's Conservative Tory government is severely weakened from the last UK General Election, so she can only onto power by the tassles of an Orange Order sash. Any new bill she tries to get passed through parliament will need the approval of her supporters in the DUP who now sit alongside her party in a coalition Conservative-DUP government in the UK Houses of Parliament.
In return for their support of keeping May in power after the 2017 General Election resulted in a Hung Parliament result, (the DUP don't want Jeremy Corbyn in power,) May will have to listen to what the DUP wants and bend to the wishes of the DUP.
Strange how Mrs. May found Ł1 billion of UK taxmoney https://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-a7939991.html to give to the DUP to help support them in NI during a time of national spending cuts to students, closed police stations, closed fire services, NHS cuts, etc. (She'll probably also find a large sum of British taxmoney to help fund the extravagant Royal Wedding that's approaching.)
To be honest though, I don't think the DUP are more extremist than Islamic parties and Sadiq Khan (who banned 'offensive' images of females in bikinis from London public transport.)
UKIP also have some similar policies to NI's DUP on Islam, immigration, etc.
I don't think the mostly Catholic Republic of Ireland (who are mostly liberal people) would welcome a union with the right-wing Protestant DUP ('Democratic Unionist Party') of Northern Ireland though.
NI is economically much better than the very economically troubled RoI though.
