Yeah, the dream of the avarage Brazilian is to be a Mexican...
let me resume the story to you: countryside workers from Brazil had their own culture (São Paulo for instance had the "caipira" culture and they had a lot of cultural traits from "bandeirantes"), then came the dumb dictator Getulio Vargas who was a guy that decided to kill evey local culture here and replace with a "unique national culture" and of course that was a stupid move - the only thing he accomplished culturally was to demoralize many local Brazilian groups... and groups like "caipiras" that, for instance, never weared "jeans" and had their own manners, after they got their culture robbed from them they eventually started to copy the people from Texas mostly because of influence of western movies (yes, I know the history of Texas is attached to Mexico, but that cultural shift happened in Brazil not so long ago and Texans already had their American sense at that time).
That mixed with iconic propagandas like "Marlboro man" and many other commercial things selled by USA created the new type of Brazilian "cowboy" a.k.a vaqueiro in places like Espirito Santo and Peão in places like São Paulo.

And of course other groups like Gauchos in Brazil managed to kept their own way because Gaucho culture also exist in Argentina and Uruguai.
Anyhow, don't be absurd, no one was/is copying Mexico.
