Hmm.. it would maybe be far more useful to develop methods that would outside the current toilet as that one uses a lot of water (maybe a vacuum toilet) combine toilet paper with a bidet.
Having said that.. one should also take a look at the shower in which bathtubs and showers work and develop showers that are more confortable but also waste less water as this could be of some service to people living in warmer yet dryer countries with chronical water shortages like Australia, the United States and Spain but it would also help countries more to the north (like my own).

One could also seek to improve upon the "intelligent toilet" the Japanese came up with. Each time when you make a deposit you can get detailed results of your health status and whether you have to improve your diet

An absurd idea I use the centres to nurture my baby French Beans, they are bio degradable and great for planting.
