    Why is it callled Maslenitsa? I see no masline there.

    In the word "Maslenitsa" butter (maslo in Russian) is the root part of the word, as a necessary ingredient for baking and eating pancakes, which gave its name to the holiday.
    But this explanation for ordinary people who do not dig deep into East Slavic paganism, in fact, the explanation is a little more complicated.

    I was just joking. I've figured it out it has to be connected to butter (we call it maslac).
