A right-wing politician has sparked outrage by saying women should earn less than men because they are "weaker, smaller and less intelligent".

Janusz Korwin-Mikke - whose party handed an MEP to Nigel Farage in 2014 - left colleagues astonished with his sexist rant in the European Parliament.

The bow-tie-wearing Polish MEP intervened to make the remarks in a debate on the gender pay gap in Brussels.

He bizarre diatribe claimed his point was justified because there were no women in the "first 100 chess players".

He added: "Of course, women must earn less than men because they are weaker, they are smaller, they are less intelligent.

"They must earn less. That's all!"

He was slapped down by astonished Spanish Socialist MEP Iratxe Garcia Perez.

She told him: "According to your theory I wouldn't have the right to be here as a member of parliament.

"I know you're very upset and very concerned about the fact we women can represent citizens on an equal footing with you.

"I think I need to defend European women against men like you!"

Mr Korwin-Mikke has previously made headlines after he referred black people as "n*****s" in a European Parliament debate.

That led to controversy when Nigel Farage recruited an MEP from the Congress of the New Right party he was leading in 2014.

Robert Iwaszkiewicz joined the Ukip-dominated Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy Group (EFDD), allowing it to keep a generous pot of funding.

Mr Korwin-Mikke has since cut ties with the Congress of the New Right and set up another right-wing group.

A spokesman for Mr Farage could not immediately be reached for comment.

He has history with women in politics. Just look at their faces. Comical gold.

Mikke isn't right, though. Two women are in the top 100 of chess. One Hungarian Jewess (Judit Polgar, 8th in the world at her peak) and one Chinese woman (Hou Yifan, current top-rated female).

I like Korwin-Mikke. Seems like a decent guy. Perhaps too much of a follower of Kuehnelt-Leddihn's ideas, but that's still for the better overall.

Women do not compete with men in male dominated professions. Corporate CEOs, engineering/computer science, investment banking, etc

Not because they are less intelligent but their personalities in my opinion.

Women should earn less only because they dont have to pay for diners and drinks, nor cabs, nor valet. They get less speeding tickets because desperate pervert cops let them get way with a smile.
