How amusing. White middle-upper class university/high school students who vote less than 20% in elections show up to a cable TV political rally held by satirical comedians in the thousands......

I wonder if even a hundred have ever voted or will for that matter.....I also wonder if they noticed that there were practically zero non-whites in the crowd..................

Was it really just a joke though? Stewart wields more influence over public opinion than most senators. The comedic facade makes it all the more insidious because he can pull the "I'm just a comedian" card whenever it suits him and is able to present his arguments as jokes, both of which disarm the viewer and probably make them less prone to critically analyze the positions implicit in his comedy.

Jon Stewart is promoting a moderate ideology and bipartisanship, and advising Americans to turn away from radicalism. But funny he didn't pull this shit when Democrats were about to sweep into office during 2004 & 2008. Where was he advising Code Pink protesters, and other Democratic lap dogs, to calm down and stop with their loud protests? And how the hell is this bipartisanship/moderate BS going to end our empire? How is it going to end the welfare state? What about ending Corporatism? Innocent Middle Easterners are being genocided for oil, more and more of our civil liberties are being lost, and the Federal Reserve central bank keeps increasing it's power. Screw moderates. They're nothing more than Liberals in disguise. We need radicals in this day of age in response to extreme Statism.

Wow, I find it rather pathetic that such a huge crowd showed up to a fake(?) rally held by a TV comedian, but most of those people in attendance probably can't muster up the same enthusiasm for issues that actually effect our country? Facepalm.

A friend of mine went to it. She's living in Canada though, took the bus from Montréal to Washington. She argues it was a counter-response to the Tea Party rally, but come on she's Canadian, she can't even vote in U.S. elections o_O

Stewart advocates moderateness because this is what best serves his North-Eastern, liberal, pro-Israel bias.

A strong American left is bad for Israel as it would start to nag about those pesky human rights abuses and begin it's anti-war mongering, two things Israel cannot allow to happen if it wants to continue. Israel then injects and or promotes characters such as Stewart to effectively 'zombify' the left to be nothing more than moderate imbeciles with no real foundational principles other than to oppose the far right. The same is true of characters such as Bill Maher.

As this is going on Israel is in direct allegiance with the far-right in America via large payments/ideological incentives to influential pastors of the evangelical movement to 'save' Israel for the apocalyptic coming of Christ in Jerusalem.

In this way Israel plays the left in the US against the far right whilst at the same time being in direct allegiance with the American far-right which see's Israel as a conduit for it's own motives.
