Proving Berkeley is a fascist state, none of the men who peppered sprayed several women were arrested, but those who defend themselves and others from terrorists will find themselves in legal trouble.
Crowd funding website Wesearchr began collecting funds for Chapman’s legal defense fun. After only a few hours, $65,000 has been raised – enough to get Chapman bailed out of jail and to secure a lawyer.
Mike Cernovich of Cernovich Media matched $2,500 in donations.
First Amendment lawyer Marc Randazza, Cernovich’s lawyer in a lawsuit involving Jeffrey Epstein, agreed to waive $5,000 of Cernovich’s rising legal bill. Randazza, a liberal who did not vote for Trump, had this to say: “Think about this: A guy came out to a demonstration in support of his government and felt that he had to come in armor with a respirator. That is totally f*cked.”

According to Chuck Johnson’s WeSearchr campaign, Chapman was charged with six felonies for defending liberty on American soil. Chapman was later released on $5,000 bail. The WeSearchr “Based Stick Man Legal Defense Fund” had raised $74,241 as of Wednesday.
Chapman’s wife created a Twitter account, @HelpKyleChapman, following his arrest and reported the stick-wielding vigilante had an arraignment at an Oakland courtroom on Tuesday. In a video uploaded to the account, Chapman said that the “District Attorney or Berkeley PD have decided not to charge me at this time. This means that they could either drop the case or continue the investigation and charge me at a later date. We’re not sure which way they’re really going with this.”
Some questioned the Berkeley PD’s response to rioting after provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos tried giving a speech at the University of California in February. The rioting left university property charred, windows shattered, and some injuries. President Trump tweeted about the violence, saying “If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view—NO FEDERAL FUNDS?”
Despite the good news for Chapman, the account still said that he was seeking “an IP or criminal defense attorney” who was “willing to help [his] cause.” WeSearchr has not yet updated its page for Chapman to say where the legal defense funds will now be used.
Chapman’s brief stint as a political prisoner should be a disturbing reminder that America would benefit from more modern-day Patrick Henrys. We are always just an inch away from redistributionist tyranny.
