The Incredible Story Of A Cambodian Boy Who Sleeps With A Python

Can you imagine your young child sleeping in the coil of a huge python? Not many parents can, but rice farmer Khuorn Sam Ol and his wife are different. Their son Uorn Sambath not only plays with their huge pet python, but also hugs her and sleeps with her.

A special bond between a snake and a human being may seem beyond belief, but watch this video to see how this Cambodian family has lovingly adopted this Burmese python as a member of their household.

The python, named Chomreun, is 16 feet long and weighs over 220 pounds. Sambath’s mother believes she brings good luck to the family and is not worried about her son’s attachment with the reptile. The family’s bond with the snake has made them famous and visitors from nearby towns flock to see the boy play with his pet!

The snake, named Chamroeun, which means “progress” crawled into their lives as a baby snake seven years ago, when Uorn was only three months old.

According to his parents, Uorn used to sleep together with the snake in his cradle, and learned to crawl with him. Their bizarre bond has turned the pair into a tourist attraction in their remote village. The python only eats chicken, about 22 pounds per week, which has become quite a financial strain to the family

It has been one or two years since I have seen this kid and his best friend, the python is growing up fast, look how big it is now, just hope the friendship will last. But parents should be more careful because wild animal stays wild animal as it is getting bigger it needs more food supply.

Superstitious absurdity. I hope the boy isn't killed later by it.

The parent's are shockingly negligent. It's too much of a risk to allow further. These creatures aren't pets.

Wild animals will always be unpredictable, even in captivity. Nothing will change true nature, at any given point she will awake. Even domestic ones are not 100% reliable.

Nevertheless as dangerous as beautiful bond ...

I'm stunned by how comfortable the snake is around even strangers, doesn't react at all when they pick him up. It must be because it had lived next to people from the time it was a baby and has learned not to feel threatened by them. I don't know at what degree snakes can form a bond with an owner, probably a very minimal one, they have very strong hunting insticts.
