Woman tells Greek-speaking couple in grocery store to speak English,

While shopping at an undisclosed grocery store in Los Angeles, Thanasi Papoulias was practicing Greek with his wife, according to the Pappas Post blog. Both Papoulias and his wife are Greek, born in America and speak fluent English. A woman overheard the two speaking in another language and them to "speak fucking English, this is America," Papoulias said.

According to Papoulias, the woman then began to cuss, using "every swear word to describe us and how we don't belong here." The video begins after that part of the confrontation and shows the woman telling Papoulias and his wife to speak English.

Greek sounds like Spanish to some people. Maybe she thought they were Latino.

It's weird to me that this happened in LA. I mean, out of all the states in the US, California is the most ethnically diverse - even more so than NY due to the huge Asian population. You're gonna hear lots of languages, like it or not. Every race/nationality is represented there....if you aren't ok with diversity and hearing other languages, you are going to be miserable almost every second.

I could see it happening in a place like Kansas, or somewhere in the south, but LA?

The couple also spoke with a perfect english to the white woman but she kept saying, " speak fucking english, this is america"..!
