I meant in the original war of 2003,Anglo- Americans were not welcomed in the Western regions of Iraq, and there was signficant losses there. The Iraqi army are not my brothers, they are sad cases these days. However ISIS terrorists have been defeated not by the Iraqi army, but by the people and tribal leader themselves, who rose against these barbarians. Several tribes took the fight to ISIS, without any help form any military. However the Iraqi army of the past which was respectable, was not and could not easily defeated by rogue bunch of terrorists.

That is true, but if there was no sanctions then Iraq would have been destroyed in no time. A shame Iran never got their 70 F-16 they ordered. Iran was running out of materials by the end of the war, which gave Iraq the upper hand.
