The "Average Cuban Phenotype" in my opinion is not totally accurate. Being from there I can tell you that if you go out east and west of the city of Havana, you will find a large portion of the population with different characteristics such as Iberian, french whites. You need to take into account all the people living outside of Cuba. Most of the black population in Cuba decided not to emigrate due to communist propaganda about racism outside of Cuba specially in the Us.
For example , many people like my self are direct descendants of Galicians that were received in Cuba during the Franco rule.
It is also very common to find people of Chinese-african-spanish ancestry as well as Sephardi Jews.

There are many Cuban athletes that have different characteristics.

Look for Jose Canseco (Professional Baseball Player), Rene Capo Judo Olympics) and many others.

The same goes for Puerto Ricans. Both Island share the same heritage and Afro Spanish culture.

Now Cuba is blacker but not that black, blacks are overrepresented in sports except for chess. In the eastern provinces there are more black people but the central and western provinces are more whiter. Havana is the exception because of the inmigration from eastern provinces.
