The jews are essentially meds. The Ashkenazim absorbed a lot of blood and therefore you'll find that some of them are east baltic, nordic etc.

I know many Ashkenazim and on average they look exactly like Sicilians and far southern Italians (with both groups looking more alike than either looks to say, Germans, Poles, Spaniards or Greeks). Blonde hair and blue eyes are rarer than people think among them. They do not look like Bar Rafaeli or Barbra Streisand on average, nor do they look fully Levantine.

Why do people find it surprising where they cluster genetically?

And sephardis jews aren't much darker than ashkenazis either.

Lol, this is actually true. I transferred to a new university this past semester, and there are so many jews there, a lot even wear the yamaka and dress shirt with dress pants. I used to think of them as lighter, but a lot of them actually show mena influence and don't look drastically different from their Sephardic and Mizhari counterparts. But that being said, there are a fair share of blonde ones. I even met a ginger one in my chemistry class.

My grand-grand grandmother was Hungarian Askhenazi Jew from Budapest. She was short, gracile, fair skinned, with raven black curly hair and deep blue eyes.
I think she was stereotypical Central European Jew and could fit very well in Sicily/Greece/southern Italy. But surely not middle eastern looking, most Askhenazi are distinct enough from their Levantine counterparts.

I think there are actually a few different Ashkenazi populations for instance I believe Hungarian populations

The local furniture store owners are Hungarians Jews both the husband and wife have blue eyes ,they look Central European.

But i think among Ashkenazies both are well presented, light types go hand in hand with dark types...

Now, if you count as AJ someone with 1 AJ ancestor just because he/she identifies as such, although his/her other 123312338 ancestors are not AJ, then well...
