I don't know how much of that takes place in this country. That's probably a commonly assumed stereotype over here, but I think most prisons seperate sex offenders from the general prison populace for the very reason that they'd be attacked.

Sex offenders are typically put into solitary confinement or protected custody in U.S. prisons since they're a common target for attacks by other prisoners. Child molesters in U.S. prisons are often beaten up, killed, or turned into a prison bitch by the other inmates.

The UK has one of the worst records in the Western world when it comes to rape convictions, and that's truly saying something considering that rape conviction rates are low in general. I read one story where a judge blamed a 9 year old girl for getting raped because she was dressed too "sexily"
