Default Crimean Tatars have Turkish (Turkmen/Oğuz) ancestry

Time to teach people smth new based on historical and scientifical facts. When we say 'Tatar, some Mari Russian people from Volga federal district in central Russia feel like they are involved. Its not like that, hell not like that for Crimean Tatars especially.
So let us summarize the story:
when Slavs of Kievan Rus (Ukrainians not Moscowy) removed Khazarian Turks, the Slavic and Italian colonist people became more prominent in southern Ukraine and Crimea. Things changed when Batu Khan founded the Golden Horde and started to invade Eastern Europe. He favored Turkic groups against Slavs. Berke who became great Khan after him converted and then Seljuk Sultan of Rum married his daughter to him. In return, Berke favored and even called Anatolian Turks (Oghuz or Turkmen tribal peoples) settle in Crimea and south Ukraine.

The Crimean Tatar, Alan W. Fisher, Part One: The Crimean Tatar Khanate, Chapter I: The origins of the Crimean Tatar Khanate

So these people are Turkic Kipchak mostly and speak Kipchak. However mutual intelligibility is strong with modern Turkish as result of Turkmen settlers from 13th century marked the language spoken in south (by 'Yaliboylu Tatars,) with Turkish. And in the 19th century, considering different dialects spoken among Crimean Tatars the intellectuals among them favored the Turkish-influenced dialect not to lose ties with Anatolian Turks. And the dialect of Yaliboylus is today what you know as Crimean Tatar language.

In 1224, Black Sea fleet of Seljuks of Rum (sultan Alaeddin) annexed Sudak city in Crimea after a Turkish fleet sent from Sinop succesfully stormed and took.

Its how the story started in very beginning with Oghuz people influence there.

    That was evident!

POV note: This article is based on a translation from the Russian Wikipedia as of April 2013The Crimean-Nogai raids were slave raids carried out by the Khanate of Crimea and by the Nogai Horde into the region of Rus' then controlled by the Grand Duchy of Moscow (until 1547), by the Tsardom of Russia (1547-1721), by the Russian Empire (1721 onwards) and by the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (part of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1569). These raids began after Crimea became independent about 1441[1] and lasted until the peninsula came under Russian control in 1774.[2] Their main purpose was the capture of slaves,[3] most of whom were exported to the Ottoman slave markets in Constantinople or elsewhere in the Middle East.[citation needed] The raids were an important drain of the human and economic resources of eastern Europe.[citation needed] They largely inhibited the settlement of the "Wild Fields"[citation needed] – the steppe and forest-steppe land which extends from a hundred or so miles south of Moscow to the Black Sea and which now contains most of the Russian and Ukrainian population.[citation needed] The raids also played an important role in the development of the Cossacks.[citation needed]
Estimates of the number of people involved vary: according to Alan W. Fisher the number of people deported from the Slavic lands on both sides of the border during the 14th to 17th centuries was about 3 million.[4] Michael Khodarkhovsky estimates that 150,000 to 200,000 people were abducted from Russia in the first 50 years of the 17th century.[5] By way of comparison, the Atlantic slave trade affected about 12 million people over three centuries,[6] while Arabs captured 10 to 18 million African slaves over a much longer period.[citation needed]
Besides the raids, a voluntary slave-trade also existed between Russians and Tatars. Russian slavery did not have racial restrictions. Russian law allowed the sale of Russian girls in Russian-controlled Novgorod to Tatars from Kazan in the 1600s. Germans, Poles, and Lithuanians were allowed to be sold to Crimean Tatars in Moscow. In 1665 Tatars were allowed to buy Polish and Lithuanian slaves from the Russians. Before 1649 Russians could be sold to Muslims under Russian law in Moscow. This contrasted with other places in Europe outside Russia where Muslims were not allowed to own Christians.[7]
