You will hear arab muslims claiming crescent moon is not islam but turkish, I've heard this once.

An interesting fact which most people don't know is although the red flag became the symbol of the whole nation towards the end of the Empire, the red flag had been representing Anadolu and the green flag the Rumelia before. Rumelia was ranking higher than Anadolu in the protocol, so the Green flag was used more than Red from time to time.

A meeting of Anadolu and Rumeli Beylerbeyliği represented with two different flags.

A cart after the CUP revolution.

Turkish Republic of Western Thrace adopted the Green in their flag.

The same green in Gorani flag.

    Tamrash Pomak Republic.

The actual Ottoman flag used in the 14-16th centuries was a mix of both:

In any mosque in the Balkans:

    Still known among Bosniaks:

Yes, Arabs do not accept crescent and star. It's quite paganistic for Islam.

Bence Osmanlı Bayrağındaki ay yıldız İslami anlama sahip ama Türkiye Cumhuriyet'in bayrağındaki ay yıldız

It was an Ottoman creation, nothing else, neither Byzantine nor it has origins from medieval Turkics. Dont join to this waste discussion, it is just another point for some and their historical revisionism.
