Nachdenklich liegt in seiner Tonne
Diogenes hier an der Sonne.



Ein Bube, der ihn liegen sah,
Ruft seinen Freund; gleich ist er da



Nun fangen die zwei Tropfen
Am Fasse an zu klopfen.



Diogenes schaut aus dem Faß
Und spricht: »Ei, ei, was soll denn das?«



Der Bube mit der Mütze
Holt seine Wasserspritze.



Er spritzt durchs Spundloch in das Faß.
Diogenes wird pudelnaß.



Kaum legt Diogenes sich nieder,
So kommen die bösen Buben wieder.



Sie gehn ans Faß und schieben es;
»Halt, halt!« schreit da Diogenes.



Ganz schwindlich wird der Brave. –
Paßt auf! Jetzt kommt die Strafe.



Zwei Nägel, die am Fasse stecken,
Fassen die Buben bei den Röcken.



Die bösen Buben weinen
Und zappeln mit den Beinen.



Da hilft kein Weinen und kein Schrein,
Sie müssen unters Faß hinein.



Die bösen Buben von Korinth
Sind plattgewalzt, wie Kuchen sind.



Diogenes der Weise aber kroch ins Faß
Und sprach: »Ja, ja, das kommt von das!!«

Ich will, ich will, aber I spend to much Zeit on English I guess, and now ich habe some Schwirigkeiten mit Mobilisation
Aber since the new school year I decided to be a learing every day too, and is not so bad. Anyway, I am reading third
time die Bibel, so I have allready read ca. 3300 pages and some ca. 1,500,000 words. Yet couple of thousands of pages
and we will in deutsch unterhalten Btw, I am quickly reminding many stuff, so it would be quicker, if I would have more
time but I at least do something every day Soon on TA I would be probably on weekends, becasue I am determind to
be determind to learn it finally... I learn german since I was acht, so enaugh (of Langsamkeit) is enaugh

Sometimes I wish i could speak German. i've collected a number of books on it over the years but never put forth a huge amount of effort

A propos, are you irritated by many english
borrowings in modern german - especially
with correct english pronounciation in the
middle of german sentence?

I am. It is weird for me as (I will not say what).

Or maybe in Africa you care about purity,
becasue in FRG-deutsch it is the norm...

It depends on the Englishism. German in Africa hasn't evolved the same way as German in Germany. I learnt English from my mom and grandmother who left Germany in 1955. The German I speak is pre-1955. Englishisms and Afrikaansishisms were added in the following decades. I don't know all the latest German slang because at the time when German came to Africa, it didn't exist. German in Germany and German in Africa has taken a different course.
