Odin is an enlightened individual who's obsession and quest for knowledge allowed him to achieve great power, at the cost of madness and irreparable damage to his body. Odin repesents a being who exists outside of the norms, hence why he is both a figure of the underclass poor, and the ultra-rich elite. Odin is the ultimate occultist, posessing more knowledge than most of us will or will ever care to know, which gives him immense power.

Odin is more or less the anthopomorphic incarnation of the madness associated with knowledge, he's a mad scientist and a lovecraftian abomination in one.

Is he real? I believe so

Heyerdahl was definitely a "do first, think later" kind of person. He operated from intuition. I can relate.

Most of the criticism levied at him is from scientists who lack imagination and unwillingness to challenge dogma. If only these people would dominate, we would still believe ancient egyptians were modern egyptians, remembers they took that stance with similar harsh stance. Now we know for a fact that isn't the case.

Heyerdahl was at least partly right regarding his Easter Island thesis. Genetics prove pre-spanish South American migration. He was ridiculed just as much for that thesis.

And the most famous example of how it often takes someone outside university dogma, the finding of Troy, believed to be myth, but it wasn't.

Most likely, Heyerdahl didn't get it exactly rigth, he didn't get it right with Easter Islan either, but anyone should give his theory the benefit of doubt for at least inspiration.

As with Horus he represents the archetypal one-eyed god. The all seeing eye, the myths can be seen as philosophical metaphor, as with other religious stories.

Odin himself is apparently a later addition to the Norse pantheon, apparently hailing from Eastern Europe/Western Asia. The original Norse deities were the Vanir, including the fertility twins Freyr and Freyja, Odin, from an archetypal perspective at least, exists.

First of all, euhemerization hipothesis proposed by Snorre is complete bullshit. It is not in any way grounded in reality and is a trial of delegitimization of sir as "mere human", that originated from Asia (because of course ǫ́ss comes from Asia :/). I don't say, that whole Prosaic Edda is worthless, but it must be examined with a bucketload of salt.

If we want to trace inns "lineage", I would point to wedic Waruna. Mithra-Waruna dualism is very similar to Wuotan-Tiwaz one in the pragermanic times. One is the master of "mad wisdom and another the keeper of peace (frir). Their cult is as Indo-European as it gets. The belief in Oinn is a final form of a long evolution of religion in the Scandinavian region, not an "invasive species".

Odin was, but Wotan not. Odin was just a fancy name Attila used when he moved to Scandinavia, convincing people he was the Germanic God of Wotan.
