Odin dies during Ragnarok. Odin is not the creator nor is he the actual all father, but Buri is. the original Norse Pantheon was likely based of the Hunter Gatherer Shamanism that was practiced and the later Anatolian/Indo-Aryan migrations probably helped create Odin like Dick said. There are different layers of Norse Mythology. It could have been a power play by the Norse to trade with the Indos and Anatolians. We Norse are known for our ability to turn Frenchmen into Scandinavians and Scandinavians into Gaels by story. Most of our effect on the world was not by conquest, but by marriage of people and ideas. The developed Norse religion was a mesh of Paleo-Shamanism and Indo-Aryan Ancestor worship would be the gist.

I definitely remember reading about Odin and Sleipnir having some connection or similarity with a Turkic/Mongol area? I cant remember exactly as it was a while ago and I'm having a hard time finding the source I was reading.
I'm sure Odin wasn't the original head of the Norse/Germanic pantheon and it was Tyr/Tiwaz instead. Tyr being a reflex of the PIE Dyeus Phter. Dyeus Phter>Dyeus>Tiwaz/Teiwaz>Tyr.

nah, I've heard theories hes a combined or fused god, made of many parts from other gods, such as the father/king role taken from Tyr, and the warrior role taken from Baldr
