Relationship of Poland & Russia to Sweden

...And vice versa? The relationship of France and Spain to England and vice versa is well known, but I'm looking to shed light on these dynamics from those part of that society, including the details. I'm wondering how these two situations compare and contrast, since both England and Sweden are Nordic nations that got about as lost in Continental Europe as Germany's own fusion with Italy, in contrast to the long-standing union of Denmark & Norway having kept them aloft.

To me, I'd say that England and Sweden sat on a fence between the Germany-Italy relationship on one hand, the Denmark-Norway one on another. Indeed, in my opinion, it is the Celtic and Finnic heritages of each that demarcate them from the Germanic centre.

I know that these three countries have a common Baltic history stretching back to at least the Volkerwanderung, when the Goths landed on the Vistula. I know that they all drink vodka.

I have a theory about why Sweden is an officially "pacifist" country. They've got their tail tucked between their legs. Russia invaded and partitioned Sweden, cutting the country in half, annexing Finland, even Aaland, which is a Swedish dependency of Finland to this day. Then the Swedes adopted a Bonaparte general out of Italy, inspiring the next French dynasty in Denmark, represented by Crown Prince Frederick--soon, we may hear that Norway joins the European Union and gets a French dynasty too. I wonder what kind of French lobby exists in the wake of the German lobby for Finland and Iceland. "Monkey see, monkey do" domino effect not unlike the spread of Communism.

This all began with the Wendish dynasties of Mecklenburg-Pomerania taking over Sweden and Denmark, leading to a German aristocracy (Oldenburgs, Wittelsbachs, Hessians) with vested dynastic interests in the Ostsiedlung of Poland and Russia, but whose allegiance was to the Holy Roman Emperor and the Papacy. Furthermore, the Hanseatic League gained preference over all native merchants while the Prussians even invaded and occupied Gotland on their behalf. These Germans ruled via the convenient central administration of the Kalmar Union, within which Norway and its colonies (Faroes, Iceland and Greeland) were dropped from nation-state existence to mere backwaters of the lands ruled directly by the Wends, passed back and forth between Denmark and Sweden like a whore and her children. Danish Estonia and Swedish Finland also took a backseat to Polish Lithuania. Since the Scandinavians were viewed as barbarians, their concerns were always secondary or even tertiary to objectives further south.
