Who look most different phenotypically: Ashkenazim, South Italians, or Greeks?

what do you mean?
south italians look maybe closer to greeks
but south italians are probably the most dierse people in terms of phenotype , they can go from looking slavic like my cousin to looking middle easterner
ashkenazis have such diversity too , to a lower extend greeks as well , but they tend to be more homogeneous

Yes, they are. I'm not talking about genetics here, the fact is that Ashkenazi Jews are generally lighter pigmented than average Sicilians. The only way they could have developed this lighter pigmentation in such a short amount of time is through mixing with some Central and Eastern European types. Many full Ashkenazim were even able to pass as Germans and many other Central European ethnicities during the times of Nazism.

When Ashkenazim arrived in the Middle East they called local Levantine Jews as ''Schwarz'', ''Black'' in German. They are overall a very light-pigmented population.
Sicilians are mostly in the Mediterranean range.

The average (Ashkenazi) Jew doesn't even know he have Middle Eastern ancestry.

IDK why people perpetuate the myth of the "light pigmented jew". I know they are lighter than Sicilians, Greeks or Albanians for example, but they are about 30-40% light eyed and in terms of hair color only about ~16% are light haired.

Yeah, they do seem to have a abnormal amount of light eyes for being so middle eastern genetically, but in general jews are short and dark and do not look like Germans at all. They look 100 times more like Sicilians than both Armenians or Germans as people sometimes want to make them to look like...

I also don't think most Ashkenazi Jews look German. You can find some Ashkenazi Jews that look German (and a few Germans that look Ashkenazi influenced also), but overall, it's not common. Most cannot pass as Germans IMO.

The genetic similarity between Sicilians and Ashkenazim is a product of chance rather than a special connection between the two groups. Most Sicilians belong to Mediterranid types, most Ashkenazim are a mix of Central European types and Armenized types.

But what about the similarity to other Balkan peoples as present in Greece? Isn't this even more 'foreign' looking to Sicily than anything you can find in Ashkenazim? Also even if it is not present in everyone, the Slavic influence surely cannot be found in Sicily.

Also, some Sicilians do have Armenoid and other Near Eastern types, but this is not common to Greeks (except Pontic and Cypriot, if they count).

I also agree with Ashkenazim on average, but of course, individuals among any of these three groups can vary dramatically.

I don't understand what about Ashkenazim can possibly look so foreign to people that they can't fit in Sicily, yet Balkan and Slavic types in Greece are not immediately registering to most of you in a similar way as being unpassable.

They don't fit as North Indian, that is for sure. Still, how could anything in Ashkenazim look as foreign as Balkan influences would, in Sicilians?
