The perception that Turkey and Greece are at each other's throats and ready to go into war is totally inaccurate. This forum usually attracts all kinds of marginal people on the fringes of their respectable societies and do not reflect the general sentiments of common people. The two peoples have no problem and consider each other friendly neighbors. The two countries have had decent relations; with occasional unpleasant developments which more resembles siblings picking on each other. Not really like Pakistan-India, Serbia-Bosnia, Israel-Arabs or anything.
The two had a joint bid for Euro 2008.
Even shortly after the conclusion of the Greco-Turkish war; two countries have moved on and started friendly relations. Two leaders; Ataturk and Venizelos, who had fought just a few years ago, met again when Venizelos paid a visit to Turkey.
Venizelos also nominated Ataturk for Nobel Peace Prize in 1934; the guy that he had fought and lost.
In 1999 when the tension had risen due to Aegean Sea disputes; Turkey was hit with a destructive earthquake and Greece was the first country to send help. As Athens was also hit in the same year; Turkey did the same.
Turkey doesn't ask for visa from Greek citizens. A lot of Greeks visit Turkey and vice versa. Turkey was the top destination for Greek tourists in 2012.
Here's a great Turkish ad about the Greek-Turkish border:
