Sword?
I prefer the BORDUNA.
When portugueses came to Brazil and strugled with natives, their famous Toledo Swords that defeated muslims in Reconquista were broken by this wood fighting pole/club. After it, portuguese abandoned the use of swords and adopted also BORDUNAS as weapon.
Japaneses also have similar club to brake swords: Tetsubo

Much interesting is traditional Tuareg sword is stright, not curved, as the arab swords also were until the contact with turks.
