Why do several folks here never actually classify?

I noticed this on most Anthroforums but it occurs the most frequently here on The Apricity. Even if you aren't a good classifier you can at least try your best. There's several charts and plates there for one to use. One thing that I notice is that a lot of older threads had people classifying but nowadays people just list ethnic groups and never an actual phenotype. I guess taxonomy's interest has vanished away on here. While physical Anthropology's legitimacy might be controversial, to use that as an excuse is well just a terrible excuse. There is no point in posting on classification threads if the act of classification is never actually done.

It's more than one factor.

When the forum was down, a lot of people left and never returned. It was down for too long and now it has all those spam ads. Too many.

Then there is the misuse of the classification, where people post pics of people who are not themselves or endless pictures of some people.

If classification must be active, new members are needed for classification which is lacking because the forum was down.

Also there are some stalkers who discourage posting pics, which is a shame.

I see. But what does classification play a role in the stalking part?

You classify if you get classified.

Everyone likes to get attention and when you get attention you give attention.

If you get classified, you are going to classify some other people.

Mainly because the classification threads get trolled often by insecure/illiterate idiots who just have an agenda to prove. Seriously, who gives a shit where they can pass off in the world, or whether they look white, or whatever fuck they fetish over. It doesn't make you "one of them" at the end of the day.

Because archaic/pseudoscientific classifications such as Caucasoid, Mongoloid, Congoid/Negroid, Capoid, Alpinid, Nordid, Mediterranid, Atlantid, North Atlantid, etc. have no place in the modern world of true genetic studies and understandings of the variety of the human species. Our species, Homo sapiens sapiens, is so highly diverse/variable that notions of "race" simply cannot apply to every single ethnic group of our species. Both pictures below are great examples:
