I used to play it for several years then I interrupted it when I joined the university. Last year I found a new Magic store with tournaments on daily basis nearby where I live and I re-started playing it. Currently I am not playing again because I am in the process of moving to a new house and Magic The Gathering is an expensive hobby. Back in the day I really liked to play with my blue control/counterspell deck, it was really fun but super annoying for the opponents.

What's your favourite Magic The Gathering expansion? I started playing during the Urza block and probably those will always be my favourite expansions. Urza's Saga had amazing artwork and great cards.

Blue is good to block/counter other cards, i have some friends who use it, also Blue/Black.

As for me i use Green, White and Green/White (tokens). Occasionally also Blue/Green (boost lands) and Green/White/Blue.

I play sometimes but not like in the past. I still collect though.

Really? In my school they even organized tournaments with prizes. We had a mathematics teacher who was a huge fan of trading card games and board games and he would even give us starter packs for free.

I've never played the game but from what I understand it promotes critical thinking and so if I had a hypothetical child interested in the game I wouldn't discourage them from playing. If they're interested in Pokemon, however, I'd call them a fag, obviously.

Yes, introduce your kid to MTG and he will never have money for drugs, that I guarantee you.

Now on a more serious note, it is indeed a complex strategy game that involves a lot of critical thinking, somewhat like chess.
