15th century Byzantine chronicler calls them V-r-achs (with an R) and refers to them as Dacian settlers from Bogdania (Moldova) in Epirus, Macedonia and Thessaly.

There's several mentions of toponyms with the prefix Vrach/Vracho throughout the literature.

Agrinio in Thessaly was formely known as Vrachohori (village of the Vrachs), my grandparents' village from Thrace was also called that by the locals.
