seems that for latinos in general..sephardic is what will more likely show up for them on FTDNA, whilst 'Ashkenazi' on 23andme instead

23andme dosen't have a sephardic category, so if a latino is 10% sephardic it will show up as somthing like 4% west asian and north aftrican and 1% ashkenazi.

Sephardic Jews are very close genetically to Ashkenazi Jews, there is not a big difference.

Ashkenazim are not so much less MENA and not so much more European than Sephardim - that's a myth. The main difference is that there was a population bottleneck among ancestors of Ashkenazim and they are descended from a small number of people. Ashkenazi component is based on this bottleneck but if you score 99% Ashkenazi it tells you nothing about your ancestry 900+ years ago (i.e. before the bottleneck occured).

Both groups (Ashkenazim and Sephardim) are probably descended from Jews who lived in Early Medieval Italy.

Ashkenazim are like half European, while Sephardim are predominantly Near Eastern. They are different.

Not true, Sephardim are almost half European too. They just lack the Eastern European admixture that some Ashkenazim have.
