People from the Mediterranean sea, as a barrier between it's populations. Start point the North Mediterranean (South Europe), the South Mediterranean (North Africa) and the Eastern Mediterranean (consisting of Turkey and the Levant).

This division does not make total sense to me.

I'd divide the Mediterranean into at least seven based on both genetics and phenotype:

NON-EUROPEAN:
1. NW Africa/Maghreb -- Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco
2. NE Africa -- Libya, Egypt
3. East Med -- Lebanon, Syria, Mizrahim, Palestine, other nearby West Asians

EUROPEAN:
4. NW Balkans -- Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia
5. South Balkans -- Albania, western Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania
6. West Med/SW Europe -- Iberia, France, North and central Italy, Sardinia, Corsica
7. Central Med/island Med -- South Italy, Crete, Aegean islands, Malta, Cyprus

In Ancient times populations were probably very similar on both sides of the sea.
But the demise of the Roman Empire, the advent of Christianity in the North and the rise of Islam in the South made of the narrow Mediterranean Sea the deepest cultural and increasingly racial gap in the world.
· In Europe, Germanic invasions made people somewhat fairer,
· In North Africa, Arab invasions introduced Black slaves and subsequent SSA admixture.

There may be some (reduced) genetic overlapping between both shores, but the most striking difference is in culture and the associated mindset and social attitudes.
