https://www.theguardian.com/lifeands...a-dies-aged-83The man credited with inventing the Hawaiian pizza, triggering endless debate around the world about the legitimacy of pineapple on the Italian staple, has died aged 83.
Sam Panopoulos emigrated from Greece to Canada in 1954 at the age of 20 and ran several restaurants in Ontario with his two brothers.
"Everything great has a Greek origin", Raine.
For introducing pineapple on pizza this man probably became a persona non grata in Italy throughout most of his life, but as we say 'Of the dead, nothing unless good'(*). So rest in peace, good man.
(*) Proverb traces back to Chilon of Sparta, a Greek as well.
