Default Why are Serbs and Bulgarians not so Central European genetically...

...even though both Serbia and Bulgaria were heavily settled by Celts in the Antiquity?

They aren't generally dark. I was in both Serbia and Bulgaria and people are very similar to us. Anyway, it's funny how we are even more Slavic than they are.

They are darker than Croats and Hungarians though, even though all of these countries were settled by Celts. It seems that Serbs and Bulgarians have managed to retain their Paleo-Balkan genetics.

I agree that Romanians are more Slavic than both of them. Matter of fact, I'm not even sure if Romanians are more Slavic than Croats. It's probably equal.

They aren't dark, just predominatelly brunette countries with large minority of fair types. Imo everything south of Carpathians is pred. brunette.
I'm not sure about the lightness of Celts either, because parts of UK and Germany with historical Celtic influence tend to be brunette rather than blond.

When I say dark, I mean Paleo-Balkanite. I'm not saying that they are Middle Easterners.

There is a difference of a Serbian and a Bulgarian brunette with a British or German brunette.

I think they are more Slavic, even if you consider I2 to be of Slavic origin. If you judge the degree of "Slavic-ness" as being R1a + I2, Romania is like half-Slavic. But Croats have higher values for both.

It's because both Bulgaria and Serbia were Empires is middle ages so with spread of their political influence they assimilated substantial native element through orthodox faith,
They are still pred. Slavic tho (Serbs being more Slavic than native and Bulgarians about equal)

No suprise for Romania, when large part of your vocabulary was Slavic, also toponyms. Only some nationalists (I don't mean you) like to deny Slavic gene pool in Romanians.

I don't deny the Slavicness of my people. It's absurd to do so. I embrace it and I am proud of it. A large part of our vocabulary still IS Slavic. Even more so before the vocabulary changes in the Romanian language. It is a Latin language, mainly, though and it was always Latin, no one can argue against this.
