We also have seen that their target reaches far wider than Europe itself. They already have Turkey and North Africa in sight. I just hope that any honest Europeans who are still fooled by the romantic idea of European unity realise this.

Spain cannot be bailed out. But if Spain needs to be bailed out, that'll be end of the Monetary Union. If that appens, the whole EU will be on artificial respiration.

I think you exaggerate on and “end” to the Euro; the Euro zone could survive the withdrawal of Portugal, Spain, Greece and Ireland (indeed the zone in general would probably be better off given that it would remove a large number of the weaker economies).

However it is still unlikely that Spain will have to be bailed out (Spain’s economy has shown some encouraging signs in recent days), the EU emergency fund can bail them out if they have to do so but the problem, for them, is if Portugal and Greece go the same way, they won’t have the cover.
