Nobody likes hearing their name mispronounced, whether they're your friend or coworker - or a famous Hollywood celebrity. Amanda Seyfried is no exception. She constantly struggles with teaching people to say her last name correctly. After sitting down to chat about her upcoming films Gone and Lovelace, the actress opened up to our correspondent Thomas Leupp about the most common mispronunciations of her name.

My last name is Finnish, my first name is Arabic.

English not being phonetically spelt (it rather has an archaic spelling based on how the language used to be centuries ago) makes many Anglophones prone of dyslexia, I believe. Now, English spelling is good as it is; but I noticed this on YT that many Anglophones struggle with reading.
This is also why they often can't grasp the easiest most phonetically spelled words/names in foreign languages. They haven't studied those language, you tell me? Yes, that's also true, but educated people use loanwords and have notions of foreign language to fully understand them. It's a more classical view of education, though.

She pronounced her last name as *seifrid" (German spelling) her name pronounced properly should be pronounced with a long "eee" at the end so she can't even pronounce her own name properly.
