I don't know, but I can say having been around different groups I notice differences.

People of North European descent often do have a greasy sort of smell reminiscent of some kind of bologna or raw chicken. South Euros and Levantines get garlicky and onion like when sweaty. Black people smell leathery.

There are probably more genes responsible for this, not just that rs17822931.
