Default [Only for members who belong to one ethnic group] Can your ancestry be traced to only one Village?

I noticed that it's becoming rare among people of my age, having ancestry from only one place. Even if my mother was born in Angola due to historical reasons, all my great grandparents were born in the same village.

I find it extremely interesting being that I never met someone like me (because I live in a Urban area).

Is there anyone else here who is as "pure" as me.

Mine can be traced back to one village plus one town, but the village is legally kind of part of the town (same mayor, etc.).

My eight great-grandparents were raised in the same region. Luckily, they weren't related!

All my grandparents are born in the same village. Although, my whole known ancestry is scattered around a radius 10 km.

It was very avoided in pre 1917 Russia. We had strict anti-inbred laws (one could go to 15-20 years prison for breaking it) and people generally had same attitude towards it. Also, in regions of various ethnic background it was encouraged for Slavic males to marry other women, like my story, all my male maternal ancestors are Maloros/Ukrainian, while females vary, from other villages. Marrying inside one village was considered to be literally sick, like marrying own cousin.

Also, one popular Ukrainian tradition on south was when Ukrainian males crossed the frozen Dnestr river in winter to come for the Moldovan brides.

At the same time, Dagestani smaller ethnic groups still have stubborn habit of marriages even inside one village. The percent of genetic diseases is outstanding there.

    Nice.

By the way, just because all 4 my grandparents had origin from the same area, it doesnt mean they were cousins, neither I have genetic desease.

In our tradition, is strictly forbiden to marry a cousin to the seventh degree.
