    Default 23andme French and German

Do 23andme have any plans to separate these 2 countries to be more specific in their results? French percentage and a German percentage separately?

If you want a more accurate dna test then do LivingDNA

You should upload your raw data from 23andme to Gedmatch if you wanna learn more about your results then, french and german for 23andme is gathering french, german, swiss, belgian, dutch actually...
French itself does not mean anything, only exploring your raw data by yourself would help you to know more precisely what it means.

BTW I'm very happy with 23andme beside that, they have several interesting tools and are developping their data day after day. They are adding more precise things about your results months after months, you just have to check it and be curious. Also you have to read beside that DNA researchs, use tests like Gedmatch and you will learn more by yourself.

Here you can find some tests to try with Gedmatch for example, read these threads and just try them if you are curious

Does anyone know what 23andme takes as a reference to define their french / german category ?

For British / Irish they defined it as descents of Celts, Saxons and Vikings. What about their French / German references as peoples ?

Mmmmh I think British & Irish is "coastal" while French & German is "continental", with a peak in the western alps, very little to do with French or German. South Germans, Swiss have the highest rate... it's kinda the "La Tène" centre.
I think 23&me wanted samples that represent Europeans the most different from the British Isles so they took the hillbillies from deep continental europe
War doesn't decide who's right, but who's left.

Anybody claiming you can get more accurate isn't telling the truth, the truth is it's very hard to distinguish between the two (from 23andme's French and German category). Instead, just think of the French and German category as Alpine.
