Sometimes ago I was surprise to discover one mafiosi clan was in fact of romani (sinti) origin and there weren't any ethnic italian in this clan.
I wonder in which extent italian mafiosi clan are compose of ethnic italian?

Maybe they're gangsters who adopted the term for themselves in a way the Mexican Mafia has. Although the Mexican Mafia clearly identifies themselves as Mexican in the name of the gang itself. I can see this happening as a way to add to the intimidation factor.

I think the clan was from roma, so maybe the rules were different.

I read to enter cosa nostra (sicilian mafia) you must be sicilian. But what sicilian mean? Being an ethnic sicilian or born in the island?
