I spoke both, but eventually, more pashto. My sister speaks with my parents in Dari all the time, because she was around my Tajik extended family members a lot. I recently heard speculation that my paternal grandmother is half an Afghan Tajik, and that it was kept secret for some odd reason. If that's true, then that would mean I'm like 1/8 afghan tajik. I also think that one of my mother's grandmother's was a Pamiri, because she was from afghanistan, but spoke another language (and it wasn't one of the Dard ones). People think she was greek, but I know that that can't be true. She was probably a Pamiri or something.

That's Wajiha Rastagar. Here she is with her husband, Farid Rastagar, a Tajik from Panjsher!

They're eastern afghans, just like my family. And yes, I know who she is because my mother has a CD of a lot of her songs that she's had since I was a kid. She used to play this one a lot on road trips.
