Islam is a universal religion, for every races and ethnicities. Simple as that.

From the point of view of anthropology and critical religious studies (I am not making a theological argument per se, so religious fanatics don't waste your time chewing me out), Christianity came about as a blend of sacrificial temple Judaism and dying-and-resurrecting mystery god cults of the Roman Empire (Greece, Rome, Egypt, the Levant, N. Africa, etc). Because the Judaic "cosmology" dominates on the theological side (the Bible), the extra-biblical elements (Tradition) i.e. processions, symbolism, iconography, incense, three-dimensional statuary, taper candles, litanies (names and attributes of the Blessed Virgin and Jesus inherited from the Hellenistic world), priestly vestments, rituals, mysticism, Church administration (the Popes, cardinals, hearkening back to the old priestly "colleges" of Rome) etc. are swept under the rug at best, or at worst, completely ignored or relegated to mere window-dressing or a curiosity; now we have to hear "But Jesus was a Jew!" and have his Judaism rubbed in our faces constantly.

Admitted, as a polytheist, I am against the Edict of Thessalonica and the adoption of Nicene Christianity as the only acceptable religion of the Empire, but as a scholar, I am slightly irritated at the false equivalence of Islam and Christianity. Supposing Europeans were to adopt Islam, all of the older extra-biblical elements that were inherited from the customs of the converted peoples would be entirely wiped out. In this way, Islam is much more Middle-Eastern in its logic than Christianity, not to mention a much younger religion (by ~600 years).
