Default Battle of Teutoburg Forest: Turning point of European history (Latin invasion repelled by Germans)

Teutoburg Forest battle 9 AD is one of the turning point in history of Europe. After Romans with Caesar completely defeated Celts (Vercingetorix etc.) they took what is today France, Belgium, Switzerland and Britain and assimilation of Celtes into Romance culture started.
Then, Romans took on Germans, they cross the Rhine and start colonization of Germania.
    Germans act differently than Kelts.

Were it not for Hermann (Arminius) intelligence the 3 Roman legions would never be wipped out completely and probably in coming centuries Germany then Scandinavia would be Latınised.

If today the western world is divided in 2:
    Romance vs. Germanic
    France vs. Germany
etc all has its origins in the Teutoburg failure to 'bring civilisation, to Germans.

Holy-Roman Empire, Bismarck and even Hitler are the results of this great German survival victory, we can say.

Very importand part of Roman history. One of the biggest defeats the Romans had suffered.

The Romans couldn't do much, there was internal betrayal from Arminius, who was one of the leaders of that army.

And there is indeed a big chance that Germany would have been Latinized.

Nordicists and Germanic nationalists honor that battle today. Video by a Viking guy obviously:

Tsk just one victory after centuries of domination and slavery. Germanicus dealt with them later.

    Arminius was a traitor.

Yes, a great and memorable battle and victory, worthy of remembrance. If it wasn't for Arminius and Teutoburg Forest, I wouldn't have been here today.

Yeah later Romans sent army some years after and found the bones of their men in the forest.
But after Teutoburg the Romans never ever tried to colonise and always considered Germania as foreign land.

We are in August month. Name of the month comes from the name of Roman Emperor Augustus. It was his time. After the battle it is reported that he mourned by letting grow his beard and hair. Sometimes knocking his head on walls 'Varus Varus bring me back my legions,.

It was crushing because of the 3 legions nobody was saved. And Romans never established those 3 legions again.

In 2009 German government didnt officially celebrate the 2000 years of the battle maybe by fear it would raise nationalism. It was a turning point truly. Like Alaric's invasion of Rome, like Manzikert, like Hastings or maybe Waterloo also.

I think Germania's remoteness, and it's uncivilized and wild nature were bigger factors in Rome not making any serious attempts at conquering it after Teutoburg. That isn't to say that Teutoburg had no impact on Roman thinking, as it's likely it figured into any balancing of risk and potential reward in regards to considering expanding the Empire's borders. But if Germania had been a wealthy province that was highly developed, I think it is unlikely that Teutoburg, or even more than one Teutoburg, would have deterred the Romans.
