Idealism vs Materialism...which do you support?

Materialism=everything is matter. That is, physical stuff. The physical laws of the universe is all that there is. No souls or spirit. No God.

Idealism=everything is mind. That is thought. Sort of like "you create your own reality".

materialism: your mind is a product and part of the world
idealism: the world is a product of our minds

Reality exists somewhere in the middle between "both extremes". You can't have objectivity without subjectivity, and vice versa. Therefore, in order to promote "wholeness," we need to find a way to incorporate both the external and the internal reality.

The key is finding a healthy balance between the two. Don't be hedonist but don't be ascetic either. Confucius say moderation in everything, including moderation. I like holding lofty ideals but still at the same time living in the real world, which involves caring about material things to an extent.
