Yes, they are a genetic group of their own. A lot of race hobbyists on forums like this confuse the origins of a population with what it has become - they forget that geographically separate or distant populations become differentiated from their parent populations i.e. they evolve.

Even after a thousand years Icelanders are not simply a mix of Norwegians and Scots/Irish - they have drifted noticably. I'm pretty sure this is also true of Europeans in general; they are not simply a mix of ancient hunter-gatherers, neolithic farmers and Yamnaya horsemen.

I've not noticed anyone here talk about this aspect of genetics.

Wot? If you have ANE you are not pure Amerindian? The highest ANE today (lower than Yamnaya still) peaks in Amerindian groups. All Amerindians are around 20-40% ANE. Australoid markers are also found in America but they're in very small numbers. "Australoid" markers are only double to that of Ukrainians, Swedes, etc... which usually have it in 0.5-2%. Amerindians have around 3-5% of it.

Amerindians are basically a near even mix of East Asian genetics (similar to Han and Koreans) with ANE (central steppes) with a very small Ancient South Eurasian sprinkle. This is why they neither look like Filipinos or Japanese but can look like some Central Asians and Central/West Siberians.

My mistake, but ANE has been absorbed into ancient WHG and became EHG, what became CHG was basically a mix of 50 / 50 ANE and Basal Eurasian, would be interesting to see a facial reconstruction of ancient CHG, most Eurasian populations have ANE. People with a lot of CHG like Georgians, Abkhasians, Brahui, Balochis and some North Indian populations have a big amount of ANE.
