These people who commented are probably Anatolian Greeks, one Anatolian Greek said some similar things yesterday on Reddit. Some Anatolian Greeks might feel connection to Turkey because of the Anatolian culture that their grandparents had.

1923 population exchange was a mistake. It was only brought up because Atatürk was deeply saddened by Izmir Greeks celebrating the landing of Greek Army.

Only like 5% of Turks, probably less, have an unfavorable view of the Ottoman Empire. And they don't mean it. For example, the Kemalists on Reddit always defend the Ottoman Empire.
