car has driven over a crowd of people crossing a busy intersection in the tourist area of Las Ramblas in Barcelona, Spain. Gun shots have also been reported. La Vanguardia has confirmed an attack and says that “dozens” are injured.

According to Spanish journalist Marta Pastor, the attacker is believed to be from the Maghreb, a region in Northwest Africa. The countries within the region usually include Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya. TV3 of Spain reports that there are two armed people in a Turkish restaurant with hostages.
