Why are East Germanic people called as Slavs?

Slavs (Russians, Ukrainians, Serbians, Croatians, Bosnians etc) are genetically Eastern Germanic people. Then why are they called as Slavs instead of being called as East Germanic people?

Slavs are rather like a mix of Balts, Daco-Thracians, East Germanics and Scytho-Sarmatians.

At least this is how you could model Slavs genetically.

Dr Michal Milewski thinks that Bastarnians could participate in Proto-Slavic ethnogenesis.

But the language is of course derived from Proto-Balto-Slavic, not from East Germanic.

Eastern Europeans are racially more "Germanic" than Western Europeans.

to me, west russians are basically similar to germanic peoples of scandinavia and its surrounding, southern russians are more slavic and or balkan and east russians are more mongolian and eskimo ish
